Do you have a feed bin that’s deteriorating and needs to be replaced? Did you know that steel bins can be either partially or completely replaced with polyethylene plastic bins?

Depending on how much your bin has degraded, you have the option of replacing just the cone or the body or the entire bin. When just partial replacement is needed, you’ll see considerable savings AND dramatically increase the lifespan of your bin.

So why would you want to replace a steel bin with one made of high-grade polyethylene plastic?

Lower costs over the total lifespan of the feed bin. On average, a Poly Bin has two or even three times the life of the comparable steel bin. And these bins are virtually maintenance free. That means your valuable farm labor spends their time tending to your birds and livestock, not worrying about corroded feed bins.

Eliminate mildew, rot and spoiled feed. What’s one of the best ways to improve the health of your herd? Reduce infection and disease by giving your animals higher quality feed. The reflective properties of the white poly material means much less heat and condensation build-up inside the bin. And it means more money in your pocket from reduced feed costs and healthier animals.

Never run out of feed again. As long as you can see your bins, you’ll know how much feed you have. The only way you’ll run out of feed is if you forget to place your regular order (or if your nearest neighbor goes on vacation).

Whether you need just part of your feed bin replaced or you need a new bin, you can’t miss with the quality and longevity of a Poly Bin.

With the rising cost of feed and having to get the best growth performance out of you birds or livestock you can’t afford to put your feed in anything less than a Polybin.

Have you always used steel bins on your farm, but fought against rust, corrosion and spoiled feed?

What if you could find feed bins made of a material that’s completely corrosion resistant, resists denting and scratching, protects your animals from infection and disease caused by eating stale, possibly rotten feed, and lets you see right away that your feed inventory is getting low?

No, it’s not magic (although once you see how these feed bins perform, you may start believing in the supernatural). These bins are made of high-grade polyethylene plastic and are durable in all kinds of weather. Consider this.

You can check the level in your bins up to a mile away. Ever run out of feed for your animals or have to scramble at the last minute? With Polybins, as long as you can see your bins, you’ll know how much feed you have. You may even start to appreciate that nosy neighbor, calling when you’re out of town to tell you your feed bins are low.

Forget about banging on your bins to keep the feed flowing. Do you have problems with feed separating or wish you didn’t have to spend so much time coaxing the feed out of the feed bin? You probably don’t care that Polybins are manufactured in a seamless molding process. But you can put away that hammer you keep handy to keep the feed moving in the bin. Feed outages cost thousands of dollars in lost performance in bird and livestock production you can’t afford that at feed prices today.

How does a 26-year service life (and counting) sound? Poly Bins carry a 10-year warranty but most of our customers have bins that are going strong long past that milestone. You won’t have to worry about rust and corrosion, and you won’t get dents and scratches (no matter how many times you kick the bin).

Even when steel bins are cheaper you can’t afford not to invest in something better?

Prairie Pride’s Polyfans are not easily compared to any other exhaust or recirculation fans. That is because they are the first fans produced with rotomolded polyethylene housings. Plastic? Yes, but this is not just plastic. It is the process, rotational molding, that makes these fan housings extra strong and durable.

The rotomolded polyethylene fan housings are created by filling a metal mold with powdered resin. The mold is then heated as it is rotated until the resin bonds together in one solid unit. In addition to making an extremely durable product, it also has a very smooth corrosive free surface. This creates efficient air flow and easy cleaning, two very important elements for our clients. Custom rotational molding has also allowed for the aerodynamic designs, in a variety of sizes, that have been developed for the Polyfans.

As with all our products, the development of our Polyfan line follows through on our commitment to provide the hog and poultry industry with excellence, and not just the status quo.

There was a time, several decades ago, when the word plastic had a somewhat negative quality about it. That was when plastic materials were just coming on the scene in a variety of commodities. That is no longer the case. The strength and durability of  plastic materials have not only improved, but have proven themselves in the greatest test of all, the test of time.

So, what is it about plastic that gives it its strength and its long life? There are a couple of things.

First of all, it is non-corrosive. It doesn’t rust and deteriorate like metals can. This means, it can withstand exposure to the elements over longer periods of time, and aren’t affected by the moisture content of feed or other materials. In addition, the plastics used in our products can withstand extremely cold temperatures. One of the improvements made in plastic manufacturing over the decades. Secondly, plastic is strong. It is very difficult to make a dent in our plastic products, much less, puncture or tear an opening in them. Because of their seamless construction, they are nearly indestructible.

As time goes on, you will see more and more products being produced out of plastic, that used to be made of metal. Plastic has proven itself as a product that can go the distance and outlast its competitors.

For decades poultry and pig farmers have been using galvanized steel bins for storing and dispensing feed. Yet, in the last two decades we have seen increasing numbers of farmers switching to PolyBins for their feed storage and dispensing. Obviously, these farmers are seeing a benefit to using the PolyBins over the galvanized steel.

There are several advantages that our customers are siting as their reasons for choosing Polybins. One of those reasons is the ability to see the feed line through the container. This eliminates any guesswork about how soon the bin will need to be refilled. Something farmers did not have available to then with a galvanized steel bin.

Another aspect of the PolyBins that our customers often mention is the fact that they don’t have to deal with rust corrosion with their PolyBins. Rust was a common issue with galvanized steel. We have customers that use the PolyBins for dispensing salt, a very corrosive agent that would be very destructive to galvanized steel.

The galvanized steel bins also did not have the same smooth flow that is achieved with the PolyBins. Our customers have less trouble with feed moving down the smooth sidewalls of the PolyBins than they did with the old galvanized steel.

Visibility, non-corrosive and free flowing: three of the advantages of using PolyBins over galvanized steel.
